Bio.

Jobie’s roots saw him surrounded by music. His Dad is a musical director who toured Europe with The Rocky Horror Show and many other shows over the last 30 years, so he was engulfed in the atmosphere of live music. Later on, he made it his passion and began by joining a gospel choir at university. This led to him gaining a spot in the backing choir for The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice. After 7 years of performing at the back of the stage on these shows, Jobie decided to write his own music and pursue a career for himself.

Having developed his artistry, sound and songwriting abilities over time, Jobie is ready to release his debut single ‘Crash’ on 26th November 2021, a song he describes as a love song to his younger self.

When talking about his music and planned releases, he describes it as “love anthems with a touch of heartbreak”. A repertoire fitting for those in love, and those healing from love lost.

“Crash” opens up an umbrella of emotions as you join Jobie on his journey to self discovery.

The delicate entry into this song sees him lulling you into a false sense of security, as he develops its darker intentions as it progresses. Inspired by the harmonies and dancing melody of the BEEGEES’, ‘You Win Again’, Jobie has dedicated this love song to his younger self, narrating a love that is tainted by the coming and going of the concept of ‘forever’. A promise to never give up on the fantasy of forever, no matter the distance between fiction and reality, past and present.

“Growing up, enjoying the conventional love story we are fed as kids, is almost impossible. It’s a thread of dos and don’ts and creates a mine field of unspoken rules when it comes to loving someone”, Jobie says. He goes on to explain “As a gay guy, it’s hard to follow the traditional route of finding love authentically, so the majority of the time is about finding the answers on dating sites which turns happiness and ‘true love’ into a totally disposable industry, and it’s even harder to turn that love inward and find it within myself”. Jobie has designed a soundtrack to self-love, exposing his vulnerability in past relationships, especially with himself, and promises to be there for himself until the end. “After all, the only person we can rely on being there for us until the end, is ourselves, so we have to find a way to live with our younger selves, and be grateful for the direction they took us, no matter how painful.”
